Relationship-Focused Individual Therapy

Are you experiencing difficulty with relationships? Are you in a distressed relationship and unsure how to get back to healthy connection? Are you finding it hard to develop healthy relationships or detach from unhealthy ones? If so, you are not alone! Many adults struggle to understand and change their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors in love and intimacy. Using a combination of techniques from Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy I work with individuals to better understand the patterns that leave them feeling unfulfilled in relationships and move in the direction of behaviors that cultivate healthy, rewarding connection.

Together we will work on:

  • Identifying the thoughts and feelings that may be driving how you behave in relationships
  • Understanding how certain behaviors may protect you from pain in the short-term but leave you feeling unfulfilled in the long run
  • Learning to tolerate and manage difficult emotions more effectively in relationships
  • Understanding how prior experiences in your life may have shaped your thoughts, feelings and behaviors in current relationships
